Cologne, December 12, 2024 – Global sneaker and streetwear retailer SNIPES has acquired 15 stores of the French sneaker chain Courir in France, as well as 6 locations in Portugal, further expanding its presence in two key markets. Following intensive review by the French Competition Authority and the European Commission, the deal has now been finalized.
With the additional locations, SNIPES expands its store count in France to 51 stores. In Portugal, the number of SNIPES stores increases from six to twelve with this acquisition.
This expansion solidifies SNIPES’ position as one of the leading streetwear retailers in Europe. The brand has established itself as a key player in the streetwear scene, particularly through significant projects and partnerships, such as its recent collaboration with the football club Paris Saint-Germain, and with this move, it signals a clear commitment to long-term growth.
“With the integration of these new stores, we continue our global growth strategy,” says Dennis Schröder, CEO of SNIPES. “France is one of the most important markets for us in Europe. By acquiring the Courir stores in both France and Portugal, we are expanding our presence and strengthening our connection to local communities.”
SNIPES plans to retain the existing Courir employees and is currently in negotiations. The stores will operate under the SNIPES banner to seamlessly integrate them into the existing concept.
Currently, SNIPES operates nearly 800 stores worldwide, with over 420 in Europe, including 51 in France. The acquired Courir stores are located in the following cities: Nice, Dijon, Rouen, Antibes, Cannes, Arras, Auxerre, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Mont-Saint-Aignan, Barentin, Quetigny, Noyelles-Godault, and Tourville-la-Rivière in France, as well as Lisbon, Faro, Amadora, Coimbra, Vila Nova de Gaia, and Porto in Portugal.
